RECITAL CLASSES

Ballet & Jazz Dance Program

Junior Dance 2: This class's curriculum includes progression in ballet technique, body awareness, and increased movement across the floor —beginner/intermediate Jazz technique.

Ballet & Jazz 1&2: The class will focus on correct classical placement and technique. Students will develop strength, grace, and flexibility, working at the barre and in the center—intermediate Jazz center work, technique, across-the-floor combinations, stretching, and coordination.

Ballet & Jazz 3&4: Students are invited into these tiers after demonstrating a complete understanding of the previous years of training. Progress is determined by the student's ability to focus on posture, arm position, turnout, and body alignment. Pre-pointe exercises are introduced. Depending on personal advance, maturity, and development, dancers will be recommended for beginner pointe training, incorporated into Tier 5&6 classes—intermediate/advanced across-the-floor jazz combinations.

Ballet/Pointe and Jazz 5&6: Tier 5&6 students continue to develop strength in the feet, and the training becomes much more intense. Classes will focus on barre and center work, pirouettes, head and upper body use, the fluidity of port de bras, and the intricacies of small and large jumps. Beginner to advanced pointe syllabus is incorporated into this class. Ballet repertoire: choreography from classical ballets. The Jazz class is designed to focus on proper across-the-floor and center-floor techniques within the Jazz genre. Leaps/jump turns, advanced combinations, strength, and flexibility are emphasized in this class.
